Baton Rouge, Louisiana March 21, 1972 U.S. Senator Carl Curtis The Capitol Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Senator Curtis: It is our understanding that on February 29, 1972 you introduced a bill which would soften some of the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. One of your proposed amendments to the Act states; "Provide that no employer shall be responsible for fines or other penalties under the Act if he can prove that the requirement he is alleged to have violated would not have constituted an improvement of the health and safety of his employees." I would like to take this opportunity to offer full support of this specific amendment. Very truly yours SAD:mmj cc: Senator A. J. Ellender Senator R. B. Long Stanley A.
