Persons intimate with the use of packed CC columns...a proviso of Method 625...both inside and outside EPA generally agree that capillary GC columns are superior to packed columns for separation of organic pollutants extracted from plant effluent waters. Inherrently, MS identi fications become more positive as mixtures become less complex, therefore MS identifications of capillary separates are more positive than those from packed columns. TSR NO. 260-81-804-8 also shows priority pollutants identified via MANYTP (see report) with calculated concentrations below 10 ppb. Though these identifications have not been verified manually as the >10 ppb compounds reported have been verified, their actual presence in the sample is probable.
