Y. 10017 212 LR 3-3444 SUBJECT JANUARY 2 1974 DISCONTINUNIG MANUFACTURE OF INSULAG and PANELAG INSULATIONS EFFECTIVE PRIOR TO MARCH 1 1974 A 1h TO OUR CUSTOMERS: OF WE ARE ANNOUNCING OUR DECISION TO DISCONTINUE THE OUR PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN ASBESTOS FIBERS - INSULAG MANUFACTURE and PANELAG OSHA the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the United States Department of Labor has determined that contact with asbestos fibers is a serious Health Hazard The mandatory precautions to be exercised for personnel exposed to or working with products containing asbestos fibers are listed in OSHA Standards Section 1910.93a under Air Borne Contaminants Section 1910.93 These Standards are subject to continued revaluation or modification as OSHA may specify from the results of ongoing or future studies Current OSHA Specifications and their potential changes make it incumbent on us to give a high priority to considerations for the Health and Safety of our Employees and those of our customers It is our further consideration that it is impractical and uneconomical to attempt to fully comply with requirements of personnel protection and environmental criteria necessary for the further handling and . use of containing insulating materials Our present inventory of raw materials specifically for use in making INSULAG and PANELAG is anticipated to be depleted prior to March 1 1974.
