Vice President Anaconda Copper Mining Company Butt*, Montana Dear d: The indicated total proilt from the operation of the East Helena Slag Treatment Plant plus the profit from sine plant treataent of fuse produced and from sale of fume to others is $2.5t5t366.92, before allowance for eastern expense and depreci ation. There is an added item of income creditable to the hast -,i -v Helena Plant of $66,610.93 derived froa royalties paid by the ' Bunker Hill and Sullivan Company for use of the last Hslena patents. The gross income to the Anaconda Copper Mining Company generated in 1917 by the East Helena Slag Treataent Plant was $2,611,977.45. Part of the fuse produced at East Helena was sold to outsiders sudi as Aaerican Cheaet Corporation and Eagle richer Lead Company. The remaining fume was shipped to Great Falls for treat- mast through the xine plant. Had we purchased sine concentrate under the terms of the last purchase contract with the Federal Mining Company to produce the same amount of xine as that recovered froa East Helena funs in our xine planta, we would have derived a profit of $1,110,447.66 from the treatment of the concentrate thich would have replaced fume. The profit which may be said to havs been due solely to the operation of the East Helena Slag Treatment Plant, plua the royalties recsived on patent, amounted to $1,501,490.19. The total amount paid to the American aaelting and Refining Company for slag purchased for treatment at East Helena in 1947 was $1,269,274.10.
