1* The meeting was called to order by President Peele with a brief address of welcome to all in attendance. He mentioned ^ that this was our first meeting in the twentieth year of * "*r the Institute since its founding in 1944. Following these remarks each person was asked to stand and identify himself, and his company affiliation.
2* The minutes of the last meeting were introduced for reading, however,since all members had received copies of same prior to the meeting,it was moved by Mr.Bettes,seconded by Mr .Bar nett,and unanimously agreed that the reading be omitted, and that the minutes be accepted as circulated.
3. The Treasurer's Report was presented by H. JhSunbury,Asst. t Treasurer,in the absence of Treasurer J.A.Brown,Jr(due to ' his wife's illness).Following a review of the contents of * this report it was moved by Mr.Atkinson,seconded by Mr.Bettes and unanimously agreed,that the Treasurer's Report be accepas read. President Peele stated that the Board of Governors, at their meeting on February 6th,had instructed the Treasurer to transfer foSOOO.OO from the General Fund to the Savings Account Fund,effective at once.

5. The next segment of this meeting was devoted to committee reports,and at this time the chairmen of the several work ing committees reviewed the matters considered and actions taken by their committees since our last meeting,and in session on February 6th.Their formal reports are attached.
a) The Air Hygiene and Manufacturing Committee report was presented by Chairman L.C, Williams
b) The Sales (Promotion Committe report was presented by Chairman J ,Vf .Christenbury
c) The Fiber Committee report was presented by Mr.J.D. Christian,of Cnssiar Asbestos Corporation Ltd, His remaks were most interesting,however,as is the established practice of this committee,no formal report is made.

d) The Technical Committee report was presented by Chairman YJ. Maaskant.

6. President Peele then introduced Dr. Lewis J. Cralley, Scientist Director,Assistant Chief^Department of Health, Education,and Welfare,Public Health Service,1014 Broadway, Cicinnati 2,Ohio, Dr. Cralley spoke in behalf of hia plan entitled Implementing flan vf Occupational Health Study of Asbestos Products Industry"*
Dr, Cralley expressed appreciation for the cooperation
he has received todate from plant managements,and stated that employees examined have reacted well to the procedure. He hopes to accumulate a lifetime history of oach employee as a io:igrange result of tho plan* An extensive question and answer period followed hit balk.
7. President facie then introduced Dr,Kenneth W. Smith,Medical Director of Jchns-Manville Corporation,and asked Dr.Smith to comment on the prosed "Conference on Asbestosis" recently announced by Dr,. Lynn Schall,Chief f Occupn tlor.n 1 Health * Program,State of Now Jersey Department of Health,Trenton,N.J to be held on October 19-22, 1964,at the New York Academy of Sciences. Coference participants are expected to attend from Great Britain,Italy,Germany,Australia,South Africa, and the United States, The main theme viill be"The effect of asbestos dust on the health of individuals exposed"
Dr. Smith stated that he believed the originator and main driving force behind the Idea of this "Conference on Aabesto sis" was a Dr. Zolikoff of Paterson,N.J*.and that he would like more information on the program than has been available todate. On behalf of Johns-Manvlllc Corporation he is tent atively planning to submit three scientific papers to the October conference. Dr. Smith suggested that the Asbestos Textile Institute could have a representative at the confer ence if they cared to,or members could have their plant doctors attend. Mr. Peole suggested that members should send to Dr. Smith the name of thGir plant doctor,if they wanted him to attend.

8. President Peele introduced our Guest Speaker, Mr, Hal E. Broskmann,Vice President, ProdescOjInc.^Perkaslo,!
The subject of Mr. Brockmann!s talk was " Development-Today's Business H. Ho informed the members that his company was founded in 1943 for the purpose of affording the textile industry a moans of readily available help in developing
new textile constructions,as so many individual firms have difficulty in finding time,or lack suitable equipment,for development of new items. While the work that Prodesco does for its clients is highly confidential,he did mention they wore doing,or had done, work for NASA on development of Survival Equipment; with the Navy on Improved Clothing for Flight Crews,and with air-craft parts manufacturers. At the conclusion of his talk Mr. Brockmann distributed an attractive brochure which explains in considerable detail the facilities offered by his company for Textile Research.
9. President Peele announced that the date of the next meeting of the Asbestos Textile Institute would be June 4-'5, 1964, at the Bar'oizon-'Plaza Hotel,New York City,
10. The meeting then recessed for luncheon,after which,there being no further business,it was duly adjourned.
