SAFETY RULES FOR SPECIFIC OPERATIONS
I. SCOPE;
The following section contains safety rules for specific operations such as VCM sampling and elevator operation in
Bldgs. 88 and 92.
II. PURPOSE;
The purpose of these rules is to establish safety requirements for specific operations which are a necessary, but not a routine part of job performance.
III.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES FOR VCM SAMPLING-88 S 92 Bldgs. (Refer to ' SfiB &8-612.0 for detailed Procedure)
92-612.0 1. You are required to wear a face shield and rubber gloves
when sampling VCM.
2. Check the area for fire permits outstanding and possible hazards.
3. VCM samples will not be taken by personnel outside the PVC kettle area unless they are accompanied by a member of supervision.
4. When filling a vessel, open the bleed valve to the atmosphere first and point it away from you, then open the VCM inlet valve and fill until liquid VCM comes out the vent valve.
5. Be certain all valves are securely closed before opening connection.
6. Be careful to loosen the connection and let off the pressure before the fitting is completely disconnected.
7. Be certain that the full vessel is properly tagged and identi fied immediately.
8. Notify the Shift Foreman of any abnormal occurrences. (i.e. VCM leaks, etc.).

EATING INSTRUCTIONS 88 BUILDING ELEVATOR;
1. THIS IS NOT A PASSENGER ELEVATOR and must not be used
as 'one.1"

.2 Press lever on control switch box to bring car to your
floor.
3. When car arrives, open doors by pulling up on door handle. Do not bang or jam doors open.
4. Position load properly and securely in car. This prevents
overloading and. keeps load from shifting when car is in
motion.

5. No more than one drum or the equivalent load should be put
on the car at one time.

.6 Close doors by pressing down on door handle, be careful not '
to get hand or fingers caught between closing doors.
7, Press lever on control switch box to bring car to desired floor.
.8 Be sure fire door on first floor is closed at all times when car is not being loaded or unloaded.
9. Report all unsafe conditions or breakdowns to your supervisor at once.
I: Do not operate elevator unless you understand these rules. If you do not understand them, contact your supervisor. These rules must be rigidly followed.
