FPC 6338
FPC 6338 is a medium molecular weight vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer dispersion resin. It is designed for processing at low fusion
temperatures. FPC 6338 has found wide ac ceptance in such applications as coatings for poly olefins and other heat sensitive fabrics, vinyl foams, dip coatings, spray coatings, rotational castings, slush molding and specialty applications such as vinyl stencil inks.
FPC 6338 combines extremely low Brookfield paste viscosities with fast gelation-fusion character istics. The low viscosity allows usage of higher con centrations of extender materials, i.e., blending resins and fillers. It should be remembered, however, that the use of extenders will have an effect upon ultimate tensile properties. Figure 1 graph ically depicts the gelation-fusion characteristics of FPC 6338 as compared to other general purpose dispersion resins.
FPC 6338 is well defined in F & DA Regulations 121-2514, 121-2520, 121-2526, 121-2571, 121-2550. It is understood, however, that the formulator must satisfy himself that his final formulation meets the regulative requirements of the Food and Drug Ad ministration.
