Asbestos Paper and Millboard - R & D Program
I will attempt to summarize the items discussed during the meeting with Messrs. Cavicchio, Davis, Gillick and the writer on November 9, 1972.
ASBESTOS MILLBOARD
1. Replacement for Millboaru Scrap - We are continuing to evaluate replacement materials for scrap. We also are eva luating tne use of flocculating. agents to improve the stock freeness as a means of increasing machine speed. In this regard, we are awaiting delivery and installation of a pump to feed flocculating agent at several points in the stock flow system. Mr. Holt is arranging for the pump.
2. High Temperature Latex Millooard Gasketing - Problems have arisen concerning the control of "caliper on the subject material, being made for Wolverine Gasket. Tne problem is caused by an unusual ana random degree of shrinkage of tne product upon drying. Further macnine runs are necessary in an effort to cor rect this condition.
3. Victor 077 Latex .Millboard - Manufacturing is mailing small production orders of*this material. R i o is cooperating on these runs but is not doing any further aevelopment work at tnis time.
A. Victor P.S. 2o2 - Laboratory samples of several formulations designed to have improved delamination resistance were submitted to Marketing in September for customer comment. No further R&D effort is planned pending results from these submissions.
