Please advise as to the actlon needed on our part. 8111 Papageorge, Jack Garrett and I attended a meeting on PCB's called by the Pollution Control Administration 1n the USA (Duluth, Minnesota) this week. This was originally set up as an office type meeting. It quickly got out-of-hand on the number of attendees. Fifty representatives of government and university laboratories 1n the USA and Canada attended to hear Monsanto's posltlon on PCB's 1n the environment and especially 1n water. These representatives have shifted their emphasis to PCB's from pesticides. They have developed enough experi mental evidence on their own to convince themselves that the PCB contamination 1s real. In short, a mass 1ve nationwide PCB program 1s unfolding 1n public agencies 1 n the USA. One poss.lble future result of this effort wl 11 be the setting of limits for PCB's In the environment.
