Jackson subject AIR SAMPLES FROM CHINA GULF PLASTICS CORPORATION IN REPLY REFER TO RTC 76:106 date August 20, 1976 Under separate cover I am sending you the charcoal tube air samples collected from China Gulf Plastics Corporation. Please analyze these samples as soon as possible as they may deteriorate with time. TVCM samples No.2, 3, 4 and 6 were collected from the Kaohsiung Monomer Plant. The major contaminants were vinyl chloride monomer and ethylene dichloride. Samples No.l through 9 were collected from the polymer plant. The major air contaminant should be vinyl chloride monomer. Samples No.10 through 12 should have other contaminants such as ethylene dichloride, besides VC monomer. Samples No.13 through 20 were collected from PVC fabrication plant. Solvents such as toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, MIBK, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, bezene (a little), methanol, and cyclohexanone were used. Samples No. 21 through 24 were collected from Experimental Polymerization Laboratory. The major air contaminants were VC monomer, ethyl and butyl acetate, toluene, MEK, MIBK, and trichloroethylene. Attached are sampling data sheets for all samples. Flow rate for sample No.22 was not recorded.
