The Honorable Sean Duffy Secretary of Transportation U.S. Department of Transportation Via Email
UNITED STATES SENATOR WASHINGTON, D.C. 20510
April 25, 2025
Dear Secretary Duffy,
As Honorary Chair of the United States--Spain Council, it is my pleasure to invite you to serve as a featured speaker at the upcoming U.S.--Spain Forum, to be held July 4th and 5th in Santander, Spain. This year's Forum--designed in a "Davos-style" format--will bring together senior leaders from government, business, and civil society to engage in high-level dialogue on issues critical to both nations. One of the central themes will be transportation infrastructure--an area in which your leadership and experience are especially relevant and valued. Your participation would provide a vital American perspective in a session that will include Spain's Minister of Transportation, Oscar Puente; Juan Santamaria, CEO of ACS (a Spanish multinational with a major U.S. footprint); and a senior executive from a leading U.S. corporation. Together, this group will examine shared challenges and opportunities in infrastructure development, policy innovation, and cross-border investment. Your voice at the table would greatly enrich the conversation.
The United States--Spain Council, along with its sister organization, Fundacien Consejo Espafia--EE.UU., was founded more than two decades ago by former Vice President Al Gore and former Spanish President Jose Maria Aznar to deepen bilateral relations through direct dialogue between government officials and corporate leaders. Over the years, both organizations have evolved into premier platforms for fostering transatlantic collaboration.
The Forum alternates annually between Spain and the United States and has consistently convened some of the most influential leaders from both countries. This year's gathering will be especially notable, with His Majesty King Felipe VI and Her Majesty Queen Letizia having been invited. The two-day program includes plenary discussions, working sessions, and formal dinners designed to promote relationship-building at the highest levels.
The Forum will also address other strategic areas of mutual interest, including artificial intelligence as a driver of innovation, growth, competitiveness, and energy efficiency as an essential step in modernizing networks and meeting growing demand. We believe your insight--particularly on transportation and infrastructure, will resonate strongly with the distinguished participants and help advance shared priorities.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out directly to my Chief of Staff,
Carlos Sanchez, at I b)(6)
We will share the full agenda, a summary of the working sessions, and a list of
participating Council and Fundacion members as soon as they are finalized. We sincerely hope you will consider joining us
for this important event and look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to Santander this July.
Warm regards,
ast -6e,A
