Keller, M.D. and H.J. Arnold, Ph.D., from the office of the Journal of Environmental Health, about which Dr. Wm. Weiss, the Assistant Chief Editor (in the absence of Dr. Boucot), without other comment, asked me to render an opinion. I stated that the paper is worthless and misleading, first, for the lack of data, and second for the complete innocence of the authors. I will not go into detail about these matters with you, at this time, but both yourself and the du Pont Company are involved, you for having seen to the analyses (and presumably knowing what they have meant, regardless of whether you have seen the manuscript), and your Company for having granted funds for the investigation. I have told Dr. Weiss of the Editorial Board of the Archives that the authors are utterly unaware of the significance of what they have said in the paper, that their statements of fact are far from the truth, that the lack of data, in aupjiort of the authors' beliefs, is incredibly m a ajkoj, and that the paper should not be published anywhere until the facts have been appraised and the entire manuscript is rewritten. I feel sure that you are not aware of the nature of the paper, nor of the use that has been made of your name and the analytical data. It may be that professional courtesy has been active here, in the obfuscation of the facts, or that there has been a rift in the professional relations which once obtained.
