/ EMPLOYERS MUTUAL LIABILITY INSURANCE COMPANY OF WISCONSIN EMPLOYERS MUTUAL FIRE INSURANCE COMPANY WAUSAU, WISCONSIN J. E. LIN5TER VICE-PRESIDENT-CLAIM DEPARTMENT February 3; 19^1 Robert A. Kehoe, M.D. Kettering Laboratory Cincinnati 19, Ohio . Electric Storage Battery Company -46670 Dear Doctor Kehoe: I am. taking the liberty of sending you an interesting file from our Boston, office which involves a question of whether optic atrophy is due to lead poisoning. I have seen references to this, in the medical literature but, to my knowledge, this is the first case we have ever had and, as you know, we insure most of the large battery companies and many other industries which have lead exposure. You will note that in addition...to the question of whether the optic atrophy is due to lead poisoning we have the additional question of whether the prior insurance carrier is liable for the benefits. You will note that they insured the Electric Storage Battery Company from January 1, 1938 to March 4, 1957* It is going to be extremely difficult to determine the exact date of injury. v We would like very much to have your opinion. Would you also please send me your bill. Wow that we have taken care of the business at hand, let's talk about more mundane matters. I am disappointed that our paths have not crossed since the I.A.I.A.B.C. meeting in Boston. Dixon Holland wrote to me the other day and asked me to participate in the program at the Congress in Denver in June. I told him I would be delighted to accept this assignment because I always welcome the opportunity to visit with my many friends in the Council. I hope you will be attending the meeting in Denver. I will be looking forward to visiting with you. Sincerely Robert A. Kehoe^ M.D. 2- - February 3> 19^1 P.S. I would appreciate it if you would return the photo static copy of the hospital record rather promptly because this is our only copy and our New England office needs the record to complete their preparation of this case for trial. Thank you. JELinster 28
