I stupidly failed to look for a mimeo graphed copy of your paper at the close of the meeting and find myself wishing that I had verification of your statement (with which I have no wish to quarrel,), as it could be very useful to me in connection with matters which will be coming up here in the next week or so. If you feel disposed to write me a few lines confirming the above (or correcting it if I have gone astray), I shall be very grate ful. I am very glad to know that we need take little stock in the statement attributed to Commander Schoeni. Having in mind that the best of us (as well as the worst of us, including your humble servant) may be in fluenced pro or con by the source of a proposal, I re frained from mentioning in my letter of December 14th that the suggested changes in lead MACs quoted therein were those of our good friend Phil Drinker. I have since learned from him that he has forwarded them to Herbert Stokinger for consideration by the ACGIH Commit tee on Threshold Limits, so the question is seemingly in for sn airing. My own reaction to Phil's proposal has been not unlike yours and I have suggested, as a compromise, that some way be found to have it considered by a small group selected from the membership of the ASA Z57 Committee and then referred by them to the ACGIH, thus keeping both groups as happy as possible. I shall dis cuss this with Cyril Ainsworth at lunch on Monday and shall be glad to keep you in touch with developments if you so wish.I I think the enclosed copy of a letter written to' Phil on December 24th will indicate to you that our thinking has not been too far apart. I would hate to see a half-baked job done on this.
