Dear Gavin, As promised I enclose a critique of the paper by Sevelan et al prepared by Professor Michael Alderson. 1 think you will find it both interesting and helpful. I have also sent a copy to Arnold Netherwood. Please would you send a cheque for US $ 200 made out to "Epidemiological Research Fund" to Professor M. Alderson at 11 Redruth House, Grange Road,. Sutton, Surrey, SM2 6RT. Also perhaps at this stage I may ask you for a fee for my services in preparing my own critique of the Sevelan paper and in procuring the critiques from Peter Lee and Professor Alderson (which required a little arm twisting in both cases!) It would be convenient from my point of view if the fee could be paid by cheque made out to "The Medical Art Society" and accompanied by a short letter stating that it is "a donation for the specific purpose of honouring the Society's Patron by presenting him with a portrait in bronze". (I apologise for the ramifications which I will explain when we next meet.) The letter and cheque should be sent to Dr. T.P. Eddy, The Hon. Treasurer, Medical Art Society, 18 Denmark Villas, Hove, Sussex BN3 3TE. A sum of about $ 300 would,I think,be approriate. Finally, thank you for sending me a copy of the paper by Wegman et al. As you say it looks to be acceptable and straightforward. I may send you a few comments on it during the next few days when I have had time to finish reading it.and thinking about it. With best regards, Yours sincerely, ected Document--Subject to Protective Order Franics J.C. Roe JNJNL61 000027371
