We shall be pleased to report our observations on the skin absorption of tetraethyl lead added to the "Vitol" mixture when the results are available. Because of the large number of analyses required, il will be some time before we shall be able to report. I shall take you at your word and forward to Mr. Van Bartesveldt copies of DTD48-5b and the pertinent portions of your Monthly Research Memoranda 48-8 and 48-1 j . I shall also refer to certain cl your other observations in my comments to Mr. Van Hartesvelai. I am not sure whether there is any reason why pure alcohol could not be used in the mixture, but I shall certainly raise the question. I sympathise completely with your feeling about the extensive work which would be required to simulate the conditions which would be associated with the practical handling of the ,!Vitol" solution. I have made certain suggestions to Mr. Van Bartea veldt for theix conduct of observations along this line. At a iater time I shall bring theirre suits to your attention, and I may suggest for your consideration the possibility of your checking certain of their observations. I recognize fully that it is not your function to do the technical work for Mr. Von bartesveldt and his associates. On the other- rand , I am put to the necessity of giving them sound advice, for their ovi protection and also for the protection cf the entire industry. If I am to do this, it is necessary tbist I have information which is entirely trustworthy, and I may feel that there 'would be some wisdom in your further collaboration in experimental work.
