Hie report describes work completed on Task 6 of the study proposal. A list of plants and company contacts from the original study were sent to the Research Coordinators prior to the meeting. The group reviewed the list and commented on present ownership status of the plants. A new list of plant contacts is needed as soon as possible. Dr. Stack will work on putting this together for EHA. EHA has designed an abstract form for verification, correction, and update of information. Each plant contact will receive forms for members of the cohort identified as being associated with that plant in the original study. Members of the Program Panel will be copied on the cover letter which accompanies the abstract forms. EHA is in the process of abstracting present CONFIDENTIAL O ? A request will be made to include job titles on the form even though the information will not be used in this study. If it is decided at a later date to go into a case control study, e.g. an examination of brain tumor cases, this information will be of use. 2.0 Current Issues The group briefly discussed current regulatory interest in VCM and PVC. Items mentioned were: o The Science Advisory Board of EPA is meeting at the end of July, August, and September to review drafts of health assessment documents prepared on chlorinated compounds. The vinyl chloride document is not out yet. o EPA is concerned once again about VCM emissions standards. A meeting on the subject is scheduled at SPI on June 14, 1982. o Canadian plants are adhering to a 5 ppn workplace standard. There is interest among Canadian regulatory groups to bring the standard in line with the U.S. 1 ppm 8 hr. TWA. o PVC combustion toxicity is an issue. Toxic fumes from burning PVC have been implicated as a cause of death in hotel fires. 3.0 University of Louisville Study A single copy of the final report from the University of Louisville was received by CMA in early May. Copies from the University print shop are anticipated shortly and will be sent to all Panel members for approval upon receipt by CMA. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M. Subject to Approval .
