This summarises our situation with regard to our preparedness to run dioxin analyses at Dayton-
crjju we have been running analyses of dioxin in pef^fcachlorophenol for MIC since the Sturyeon spill. Our detection limits might typically be 50 ppb in that matrix. We are preparing to examine Krummrich effluents samples as well for dioxins. The detection limit is, of course, extremely dependent on matrix, but these too would be trace analyses.
The Dow work involves ultra-trace analyses of dioxins with detection limits at the low ppt level. If we were to equip ourselves to do this we would have to:
1) Aquire another mass spectrometer system and dedicate it to these ultra- trace analyses. (This is for reasons of both contamination and instrument availability).
2) Allow a seasoned professional to spend some time getting good at the analyses.
