It was found that there was 1.7 - 2% light alcohols, including approximately 1% octanol in the sample indicating that the last shipment to Associated may have been contaminated. The symptoms described to me could be consistent with exposure to octanol. I spoke to Doug Smalley yesterday to assure he was aware of these results. I told him I felt this contamination was a significant enough difference in product to have caused his alleged health problems and that no known long-term health effects should result from the short-term exposures that occurred in his plant.
