Welntraub File ^ In reference to the subject memo. Quality Control has taken the following steps to expedite the release of bulk shipments to this plant site. 1. Arrangements have been made with Receiving to have the trucks come to Quality Control for sampling before they are weighed in. 2. The time required for percent solids test on Avirol 101 has been reduced from two hours to thirty minutes by the use of a vacuum oven at 105sC instead of a forced air oven at 105 C. 3- The time required for brookfield viscosity test on Avirol 101 has been reduced from two hours to thirty minutes, de pending on the initial temperature of the sample, by using a constant temperature water bath instead of the constant temperature room. 4. Attached is a copy of the log sheet which has been initiated by Quality Control to keep tract of time. Vlhile these steps are being taken to expedite release of raw material shipments, a few additional comments are noted: 1. We disagree with the statement in the referenced memo that a "Quality Control lab man then came out and opened the top of tank truck lid, looked in and said it was O.K. to unload". Quality Control technicians do not sample" a truck, do not climb onto trucks and certainly do not re lease a truck by peeking into a hatch. The technician's responsibility is to supervise the sampling to assure that a proper sample is taken. COLORITE 015869 \ - 2 September 2J, 1969 2. While everything possible will be done to expedite this procedure, it is pointed out that Quality Control has al ways treated release of raw materials as top priority. Further, technicians are aware of this through verbal communications as well as by written instruction.
