Lincoln Liberty Life Building Houston, Texas Dear Harry, Dick Curran and I discussed the advisability of putting on record the agreement between Coastal States and myself with regard to the ownership of the know-how and possible patent rights for the isobutane cracking process. Since this invention was conceived in the course of my consulting work for Coastal, and since Coastal is paying for the experimental work and the legal work in obtaining the patent, 1 believe it would be reasonable for me to assign title and interest in the know how, invention, and any patent rights to Coastal States, and agree that Coastal has a right to practice the know-how or invention without royalty or other payment to me. As compensation for assigning the invention to Coastal, I propose that I be given 25% of any proceeds received by Coastal for any sale or license of the know-how, invention, or patent rights to others. In the event that Coastal exchanges these rights for some consideration other than monetary payment, then my 257. should be computed on a fair value of whatever Coastal receives in exchange for the rights.
