Monitoring Program As promised in the April meeting Jon Shepherd and I had with you. Bill Peard and Mark Wood, the following is our planned schedule for the Unit Industrial Hygiene Reviews. Week of: July 28th, Sept. 15th, Oct. 27th, and December 8th For your information, this activity was first conducted as a pilot program in mid-1985. The concept calls for 4 consecutive days of around the clock supervised monitoring of all jobs within a specific work location - i.e., VCM II, This will include all hourly employees (operations and maintenance) plus those salary positions which are field related and offer the potential for exposure to chemicals. By supervised monitoring we mean that a continuous log of all monitored employees is maintained with each unusual or high potential activity being further evaluated with an additional 15 minute (or longer) sample. The supervision of this activity was handled by a combination of shift safety coordinators and lab personnel. The pilot program taught us several things and we plan to make changes accord ingly when we implement the first run in July. One of these, is that we plan to use the passive sampling "badges" where possible, as we discussed in April. We (you) need to decide the best method for performing the analysis - outside vendor or your group. There are some obvious details which need to be worked out. At your conve nience, Jon and I are available. The second area we discussed in April was that you would produce for us a schedule of the "CORE" I.H. monitoring to be performed the remainder of this year.
