The analytical techniques used were x-ray diffraction and dispersion staining optical microscopy. Results are as follows: Ceiling Tile No asbestos present. X-ray diffraction showed the possibility that this sample contained chrysotile asbestos. Dispersion staining optical microscopy revealed that this sample contained birefringent organic material, non birefringent fibrous material and birefringent clumps, cone of which had the optical or morphological characteristics of chrysotile. The most probable component of this sample is chlorite eo which has major x-ray peaks at 7.19A and 3.58A that interfere with OO both the primary (7.33A) and secondary (3.66A) peaks for chrysotile. Clerical Area - Flaking From Wall No asbestos present. The major chrystalline components of this sample as determined by x-ray diffraction are Calcite and Dolomite.
