The objective was to explore possibilities meeting between Commissioner Sinkevicius and for a bilateral - and - also used the opportunity to debrief from the workshop organised by DG ENV on "Mobilizing u p -scaling Nature-based Solutions throughout 2020 and beyond" and to present Danone's coalition "One Planet - Business for Biodiversity" (op2b). The coalition aims to protec t biodiversity for the benefit of the planet and the people. To achieve that, it brings together forward thinking, agriculture-centric companies to propose solutions that can help transform the food and agriculture systems. The coalition consists of 19 international cross-sectorial, action-oriented business members representing the entire value c hain from the food, textile, and personal care sectors. It was ----------------- launched within French President Macron's One Planet Lab framework and is led by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development {WBCSD) along with . The 19 companies sell products in more than 120 countries and have combined total revenues of circa USD $500 billion. I confirmed the cabinet's readiness to arrange for a bilateral meeting between the Commissioner and the CEO, later in the year. I also debriefed about the ongoing work on the Biodiversity Strategy and the Farm2Fork Strategy, which would be presented later this year. I highlighted in particular the business case for biodiversity, where industry and companies were relying on genes, species, and ecosystem services as critical inputs for production, and where over half of global GDP depends on nature and the services it provides. Construction, agriculture, and food and drink were all highly dependent on biodiversity.
