MINUTES of the
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING New Ycrk, N. Y, January 24, 1967
The meeting was called to order at 12:CO noon with the following in attendance:

It was reported that instead of the anticipated $5,000 deficit for 1966 (due to the resignation of Pittsburgh'Corning'and EaglePicher) that the actual deficit amounted to $1,57*.54.
A copy of the 1966 Financial Statements are attached hereto and made part of these minutes.
It was reported Miss H. C. Lynch was in the hospital.
It was agreed that in the event Miss Lynch could not return to work:
1. For her long and faithful work with MIMA her salary payments would continue up to June 1, 1967*
S. If she has to borrow money for her hospital expenses that J. Boyer will investigate the action that could be taken with respect to the NIMA owned Insurance policy.
3. Temporary help be hired.
Mr. Barnhart was asked to investigate the cost of health and hospital plans for the NIMA staff.
HEALTH & SAFETY PROGPAM
The presentation of the NIMA Health and Safety Program to AICWS in November was reviewed.
The alleged health hazards relating to fibrous glass, mineral fiber, and asbestos were discussed. It was agreed that the burden of disproving the alleged claims were a responsibility of the insula tion industry, and that the united States Public Health Service should become involved to absolve the industry. This subject will be
discussed further at the next NIMA meeting.

Dr. L. J. Cralley, USDHEW, will be sent the medical studies, investi gaticns, etc. from the various companies for his Interpretation, He is to be asked that they be treated as privileged medical records and are not for publication.
MEMBERSHIP A. L. Gustin III is to talk to the Philip Carey Co. regarding membership in NIKA.
Pittsburgh Coming will be asked to consider rejoining NXMA. It was reported that three companies were desirous of joining NIKA on a limited basis. They were interested in settjng up and receiving statistical services only relating to refractory fibers.. This subject will be explored further. The request for Associate Membership from Holmes Insulations Limited of Sarnia, Canada, will be acted-upon at the Spring Meeting.
' NIKA NEWSLETTER It was agreed that Nathan/Walsh should proceed as per their attached letter, dated January 9, 1967.
COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION It was agreed that the Committees should remain as they are now set up.
MEMBERSHIP IN AUTOMATED PROCEDURES The letter dated January 5, 1967 free Automated Procedures was dis cussed. No action was taken at this time.
TECNA MANUAL The letter from J. P. Ennis, dated December 28, 1966, was discussed. No action was taken at this time.
NIKA DEES STRUCTURE It was pointed out that the 2.967 dues structure was unwieldy when billing, etc. A motion was made, seconded and passed that the following be . substituted:

(a) Assessment rate - 0.175#
(b) Maximum of $5,250.00 per year in each product category.
(c) If any individual manufacturer reports in more than one category, the maximum total dues shall be $10,000.00 per year.
(d) The minimum dues shall be $600,00 per year in each product category.

The subject of union apprentice training pregram was dis cussed, J, P. Vyverberg will obtain further Information on this subject from T. Brodie of IDCNA and the subject will be explored further.
(b) It was suggested that the "economic thickness" concept be gotten to owners.
(c) The subject of stream pollution from phenols will be dis cussed at the Spring Meeting.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
