General The tongue and groove edge on I/2" and thickness Perforated Auditone and %" Slotted Auditone is designed for staple application. Because of its additional thickness, 1" Perfo rated and Slotted Auditone must be nailed. Method (See above drawings) Place the staples parallel to the nailing flange pressing firmly against the flange. It is good practice to check the alignment of each course before proceeding. Use at least two staples on the 24" edge and one on the 12" edge. Place tile with stapling flange advancing. These channels shall be hung level and spaced at a maximum of 5'-0" on centers, 1^4" painted ZSplines shall be attached (24", or 48" o.c.) and at right angles to the metal grillage with No. 85 Clips. Corru tone metal panels (2', or 4' wide) shall be placed on top of the lower flange of the Z-Splines. A mineral wool pad or roll shall be placed on the upper surface of each panel prior to the placement of the following panel. This pad shall be tucked under the upper flange of the Z-Splines. Following panels shall lap the preceding panel. b. From Bar Joists Z-Splines may be directly attached to Bar Joists--Max imum spacing 5'-0" o.c. (Refer to e-l or e-2, "Materials and Accessories"), or e-2. No. 87-S Clip--For attaching Z-Splines to Bar Joists whose lower chord dimension is greater than 3 wide x 11/2" high but less than 4W' wide x 2V2" high; or e-3. No. 90 Clip--For attaching Z-Splines to wood furring strips or wood framing. c. From Wood Furring or Framing--(Minimum dimension 2" x 3" wood strips-- (Maximum spacing 5'-0" o.c.) (Refer to e-3 "Materials and Accessories") thereby elim inating the need for hanger wires and carrying channels.
