Osborn, R&D, Ponca City June 18* 1987 EFFECT OF BPA ON 5415 RESIN FOR COMPOUND I am writing to list the reasons John Irvine and I feel that use of 5415 resin killed with BPA is a low-risk situation for Compound. 1. It won't thermally post-polymerize like AMS can--this should directionally help hard particles. But we don't know how much. 2. BASF recommends this kill agent for a variety of reasons including low hardparticle count. 3. Color was good on one batch we already made in September of 1986 (blend 46511). 4. Physical properties of resin are not changed wtih the use of BPA. 5. BPA is already being successfully employed in 5305 production. For these reasons, we think BPA-kiUed 5415 will work well in the Aberdeen compound unit. In the event you are still reluctant to process this material in Aberdeen, we could just as simply send it to any number of customers.
