Box 44307 Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70804-4307 SITE INSPECTION FOLLOW-UP RESPONSE DOW CHEMICAL U.S.A., LOUISIANA DIVISION, LAD 008187080 Dear Mr. Miller: During a recent (March 3, 1986) follow-up inspection con ducted by Karen Fischer Brasher (DEQ), Dow was requested to supply a waste analysis plan outlining our efforts to phase suppliment the process knowledge Information with actual waste analysis for wastes generated off site. Enclosed with this letter are two items. The first is Dow's revised waste characterization summary sheet. This sheet describes the initial and subsequent analyses required for off site waste received at our facility. For reagent grade laboratory chemicals received from off site sources as wastes, process knowledge will continued to be used. These lab wastes are easily identifiable and in most instances exist in very small quantities. The second item shows suggested waste analysis methods that can be used to comply with the Louisiana Hazardous Waste Regulations. A summary of the suggested methods is also given. To implement this plan all new waste characterization summaries for off site hazardous waste arriving after June 1, 1986 will contain the required analytical infor mation. Present waste characterization form will be updated or revised when the first waste shipment (after June 1, 1986) is received.
