Letters to the newspapers, using alarming phrases about ''the toxic emissions from high-test gasoline", and com plaints to us on this subject are increasing. I have been referred to you as a foremost authority both on the composition of exhaust gases and their effect on human health and welfare. We are primarily interested in the amounts of bromic -acid and lead oxides or other lead compounds in the emissions, and whether there are other elements of a toxic nature which should be investigated. We have a limited amount of literature and will begin exhaust analyses in a few weeks. Any literature references on this subject will be appreciated.
