Within' the past two or three days we have been in the process of standardising our technique for doing asbestos counts and now feel that we .are capable of reasonable accuracy. Until we can develop specific data in all of our plants where asbestos is machined or worked, there is always the possibility of violation of OSSA standards. It is there fore the recommendation of the Medical Department that machining and working of all asbestos-containing products in the company* be prohibited until we can sure of compliance. This, we feel, would prevent OSHA compliance officers from instructing our employees to machine this material which might be on hand and thus create a violation of OSHA standards. SCI/aw S.
