Cn this occasion the toxic hazards to consumers which may he involved by the direct or indirect us in food or the compounds shewn on tie attached list will be evaluated. This list is identical to the Priority ill list prepared by the Committee on Pesticide Residues of the Joint FAC/WHC Codex Alinentarius Commission. The function of the Connission is to elaborate food standards, including tolerances for pesticide residues for acceptance by member governments. Other compounds which have been considered at previous joint meetings may also be re-evaluated from a toxicological point of view where there is a significant amount of additional data and if time permits, You will note that some of these compounds have been considered at previous meetings and I am sending you under separate cover the relevant documents which contain 3usmaries of relevant published articles and unpublished reports. Any additional information you may provide will be useful in the re-evaluation of these compounds. As regards the other compounds, I should appreciate receiving all relevant data. The above mentioned documents may prove useful to you in selecting the pertinent information. It would facilitate our work very much if you would send me tin reprints of any published articles on thoee compounds which are manufactured by your company, together with a list of any new references to published papers of Wiieh you know but do not have copies available^ I should be grateful also if you would let me have tw> copies of any new unpublished data on these compounds. Summaries of this unpublished information may be. included in the monographs resulting from this meeting. To ensure that the meeting is able to consider fully all the information which you are able to supply, it is necessary for us to receive it at an early date preferably by 1 August. I should perhaps mention that as it is necessary to circulate all available data tc the experts well in advance of the meeting it will not be possible for the coimittee to take into consideration information received after 1 October.
