HIGHLIGHTS
1. Blood Testing - Plant and Laboratory Cross Check -- The laboratories have good test sensitivity and their results correlate highly. Levels of their reported values generally differ (due to equipment or units of reported values). The real problem, however, is that the rejection levels prescribed by their blood test "norms" are "significantly" and obviously different, relative to the values developed at each labora tory. Of the sixty people evaluated for 6 liver function tests Bioscience "norms" were exceeded 17 times -- St. Anthony's norms were exceeded 48 times (out of 360 total) on the exact same samples of blood. While the data analysis is not quite complete, it would seem desirable to sample a totally non-exposed group of industrial workers to determine new reference "norms." (J. C. Schaap, R. M. Elkins, A. M. Fairlie)
2. Health Records Study -- Analysis of Pedriclctown data has begun. All Louisville data (to date) has been developed, is in the IBM 370, and is being merged into a master file for analysis. Some tentative re sults should be ready by December 1st. Data from most other plants is ready to be developed and merged into master files. (J. C. Schaap)
3. Records for OSHA VCl Standard -- Planning and contacts are underway on several types of records. November 20th is the target date for complet ing proposed formats and procedures. (A. M. Fairlie - W. J. Wilcox)
4. BFG Statpac is running, is essentially debugged, and is partially docu mented. November 15th is our target date for completing the manual. Forward selection MCP may not be ready in 1974. Completion of the whole Statpac package (it is about 40% complete) will not begin until mid1975, pending conversion of GE 235 programs to the IBM 370 system. (B. A. Prusinoski - L. L. Stephens)
5. A four-week PIC training course was planned and begun on November 4th.
6. PIC meetings are scheduled for December 3-5. Environmental techniques, some important new statistics technology, and a "Statpac" workshop will be featured.
7. Five plants were visited for PIC reviews (A. M. Fairlie), blood testing data was reviewed at Louisville with Doctor Makk (A. M. Fairlie), and Akron with Doctors Johnson and Guyton (A. M. Fairlie - R. M. Elkins). Also, the ASQC Chemical Division Meetings were attended (J. C. Schaap).

DISCUSSION
Calvert City
1. The Calvert City Plant was visited.
a. Ambient VC1 data collection and storage. Views and feedback on activities and records were exchanged with D. B. Schrock, A. L. Keller, F. R. Carvell, and personnel representatives.
b. PIC activities were reviewed with A. L. Keller.
Henry
1. The Henry Plant was visited to review PIC work.
a. Their recent (September, 1974) Geon 103EP F-76 report and action in this area was reviewed. This report is recommended for reading.
b. Continuous stalite was discussed in some depth. It was felt that the study should include a more accurate breakdown of the specific components fed to the reactor and, further, that more consideration should be given the conflicting objectives. A crude set of "Goodness" curves was developed to bring these into focus. The plant was going to try to improve their set and the Avon Lake Technical Center has been requested to develop a set illustrating their position on vari ous needs of the process.
Louisville
PIC problems were reviewed at the Louisville plant.
Orange
A PIC review was held at Orange. Their biggest recent effort has been a study of AT (hysteresis) control in CB rubber. A solution was found, but it also significantly reduces productivity. The plant is hoping to use a modifier to reduce AT without sacrificing pounds.
Port Neches
The Port Neches plant was visited to attend a meeting which reviewed prob lems and opportunities at the plant. The remainder of the visit was devoted to plans for an overall quality improvement study of type 1500 cold rubber. This study has begun with a variation analysis which should evaluate testing and assess the potential for uniformity improvement.

Miscellaneous
1. Personnel
a. Randy Elkins joined the group as a trainee for the Akron Chemical Plant. He is taking the PIC training course and plans to move to Akron on 3/1/75.
b. Several good prospects for the Pedricktown plant have been found. We plan to start interviews immediately.
2. The new Severs mix dispersion resin specifications were developed for all products and were relayed to the plants for their consideration. The note contains a bibliography of past work in this area. (R. M. Elkins, J. C. Schaap, A. M. Fairlie)
3. Apparent-Compact Density Test Correlation -- Correlations of compact vs. apparent density test data were analyzed to determine if the com pact density test could be eliminated. The two tests correlated very well for a given plant. However, each plant's data produced a differ ent correlation line. Further investigation will determine whether this is due to resin and/or laboratory differences. (J. C. Schaap R. M. Elkins)
4. VCM Headspace Analysis -- A Monroe 1860 program was written to relate the Perkin-Elmer gas chromatograph readings to the corresponding ppm VCM in carbon tubes used for personnel monitoring. The program adjusts for daily variation in the chromatograph unit and permits a rapid cal culation of ppm VCM. (J. C. Schaap)
