L.I.A. had a l6-ft. exhibit booth at thla abov for the aecood year, featuring lead products used la Industrial con struction such as noise and vibration control devices, ceramics, flashing, paints aad the like. Despite disappointing attendance at the shov as a vbola, L. I.A.'o exhibit attracted good attention and a large ntober of valuable inquiries from laportant Industrial concerns vere received. 9. Advertising. Two one-page ads la our "Kevsletter" series appeared during the quarter in "Materials In Design Engineering" and one In "Product Engineering". They dealt vlth lead's uses as piezo electric and thermoelectric Daterials. 10- Publicity. Articles emanating fren L.I.A. appeared during the quarter in a variety of publications. Some vere the "jtev fork Times" (leaded stained glass vlndovs for non-religious buildings), "Product Engineering" (lead sound barriers, lead-enaaeled steel), "Inductrlal finishing" (lead-enaaeled steel), "Precision Metal Holding" (lead-enaaeled steel, lead-enaaeled aluminum), "Steel" (electric automobile), "American Metal Market" (several), "Ceramic Industry" (lead zlrcooate-tltanate). 11. General Motors. Tvo visits to the General Motors Technical Center have apparently aroused considerable Interest In certain lead products, particularly for noise and vibration control and pearleseent paints. A subsequent telephone call from the Technical Center asked for a rush order of leaded plastics for testing, vhlch vac filled by air express. 12. 8veet's Catalogs. Rev crtalogs on lead for roofing and flashing, plumbing, and noise and vibration control vere prepared to appear In Sweet's 1962 file. They will appear In the architectural. Industrial construction and light construction. (Xir 12-poge design catalog covering the properties and applications of lead vhlch appeared ia the 1961 Sweet's file will be repeated In 1962. 13. Cceclttee Heetlnq. The Executive Ccenlttee of the Industry Development Ccmlttee met for preliminary discussions of a motion picture on lead and promotional plans for 1962. Tetoar participated in the annual plumber'a apprentice conteat and teacher training program apomcred by the International plumber* union at Purdue University, the former a* Judge of lead vork and the latter a* lnatruetor of teacher* In their refreaher course. L.I.A. awarded price* to the three best lead workers among the apprentice* 20. Cutter*. Detailed drawing* and specification* were prepared for approximately four ton* of hard lead gutter lining* for Plahsr and Davis, architect*, for use on a nev hospital Is Denver. 21. Roof. Contact with a third coepany, Torjesen, Inc., of Brooklyn, I. T., reveals another leaded vinyl roots divider which rolls up Into the celling. 27. Soura'proofing at franklin Institute. A number of the research staff of franklin Institute contacted L.I.A.'for further Infcm*tloo about lead sounc proofing after reading our brochure, "Inproved Sound Barrier* Using Uad." An L.I.A. staff neeber then visited the Institute and nads recccrendatloos for a soundproof roco which is now being built. Though not yet cccpleted, the eudlbl* difference lnild* and outside the rooa Is already apparent. Co completion test data will be available and the project 1* expected to be publicised. !
