CPSC Is getting ready to resume examination of some consumer products containing asbestos. Nine samples of friction materials from four competitors washing machines are to be examined for asbestos content.
REQUEST:
1. Determine if asbestos is present.
2. If asbestos is present, determine resin/asbestos/other filler concentrations. IDENTIFICATION:

CONCLUSIONS:
Samples numbered 2, 3, 5, 8, and 9 contain asbestos. The others are asbestos free per CAI-189. Compositions of the asbestos containing friction materials are Ifsted in the table below.
