MINUTES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH MEETING OF THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE February 16, 17, 18. 1977 PLACE The ninety-eighth meeting of the Technical Committee of the Gypsum Association was called to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Causeway Inn, Tampa, Florida on February 16, 1977 by Chairman C. The committee thought this should not be done but the Information should be in response to specific questions on this subject as they arise. d) Fire Performance of 5/16" HH Gypsum Board A discussion took place on the equivalent fire performance of 5/1^" MH board. It was felt there is a need to evaluate this production comparison to wood products being used for mobile homes. Hr. Crumbaugh will ask if his company will release data they have for use by the Association. Mr. Lehnert stated his company also had test data they may be willing to provide at reimbursible cost. Hr. Lehnert will look into this. e) Airborne Asbestos Fibers Mr. Marshall reported there have been reports in the news media that investigations are taking place to determine if asbestos fibers are being released from ceilings in older buildings that might be a health hazard. There have been reports of school closings in New Jersey while investigations are taking place. It was decided that Mr. Smith should moni tor this situation in California where the most recent ques tion was raised. Any future activity would be determined as the problem is more fully reported. f) Article from HUD People and Fire Publication Mr. Hovind brought to the attention of the committee an article on the excellent performance of gypsum carried in a HUD publication called "People and Fire." COMMITTEE ACTION: A motion was made, seconded and carried that the Promotional Committee be made aware of the article for possible promotional use following a careful review by the staff and legal counsel.
