LEE, ASSOCIATE BUYER - PURCHASING DEER PARK MANUFACTURING COMPLEX SUBJECT: ASBESTOS GASKET MATERIAL Asbestos is a hazardous substance which is controlled under EPA (NESHAP) and OSHA regulations. These regulations deal with the handling of asbestos insulation and personnel exposure, respectively. DPMC no longer purchases asbestos for insulation. However, until reasonable competitive alternative materials are available for gasketing, asbestos gaskets may be purchased. These gaskets must be disposed of as a hazardous material, and Maintenance is well aware of their responsibilities in doing this.
