June 30, 1959 C\ } * OO o o o '-ii Mr. George Kirby Ethyl Corporation 100 Park Avenue New York 17, New York Dear George: I send you herewith two items of information, together with a statement of their distribution. The one, of which I send four copies, is a report in which the results of the toxicological investigation of the lead alkyls by Dr. Machle, some years ago, are summarized briefly. I have sent 4 copies cf this to Jack Sabina, 6 to Dick Scales, and 4 to Mr. Cooley of California Research. Other copies are available, and more can be reproduced if necessary. None have gone forward as yet to our friends in Socony Mobilnor have 1 sent them to the people in S.O. N.J. There is nothing of a confidential nature in this report, so far as Z am aware or concerned, but Z shall not distribute copies further at this time, if only for the reasons that the information in them is not as complete as it might be, on the one hand, and it has very little real bearing on the problem of the safety or danger associated with the handling and use of the final product. If you wish them to have -t somewhat wider distri bution you can let me know. The other item relates to the survey and test In San Francisco. The first phase of the observations has been completed. Mr. Cholak has prepared a report of the results of the environmental investigation, while Z have put together the analytical results on the urine and blood of the personnel. The brief summary of the findings in the urine of the employees of Yellow Cab (which are of the most importance) with a brief discussion or interpretation, is enclosed herewith. From this information we can see that this group is satisfactory for our purposes. I have sent copies of this table and discussion to Mr. Sabina, Mr. Cooley, Mr. Scales and now to yourself. Cholak's report will be scrutinized and reproduced for distribution shortly. It will be given this same distribution unless I am asked to extend or contract the list of recipients. . Zf you have comments or questions on any aspect of this, Z'll be glad to have them. Sincerely, N 6487
