I would like reiterate what we discussed on December 29, 2008 and as documented in my email of December 30, 2008. You indicated that there was insufficient funding available to extend the API-Cinpathogen contract beyond December 31, 2008 (e.g., through February, 2009) without additional funding and therefore Cinpathogen was reluctant to execute the no-cost extension. Note that API never rescinded its offer of a nocost extension to Cinpathogen. Given your preference of not extending the previous contract, we will expeditiously consider your proposal for additional funding. Cinpathogen is also working to provide API with pro-forma invoices and end of contract financial information as you have requested. In this description we have tried to provide additional detail and description of the activities included and the linkage between our proposed deliverables and the previously funded milestones of the other contractors, the University of Colorado Denver and EMBSI. We have also eliminated a project in response to API's request that we "sharpen our pencils." Again, with respect to budget trimming, please note that the travel budget is already projected on the basis of2 trips to Shanghai when, in fact, we anticipate that 4 will be required to complete the tasks as outlined. In view of the fact that API has rescinded its offer of a no-cost extension to Cinpathogen, we would appreciate a response to this revised proposal at your earliest convenience. I can not afford to incur expenses in support of this project for which Cinpathogen may be unable to reimburse me.
