Lee At the last Task Force meeting in March we were asked to supply data on the particle size distribution of respirable fractions collected from the carbowax 400 treated JBP samples we now have in aging study These samples listed below were placed in aging maintain the reduced to determine if the respirable particle treated products levels imparted initially by the addition of Carbowax 400 ee C JBP with ee Mate 0.25 Demicronized Tal em Sample a A JBP Carbowax 400 + 0.25 Carbowax ce EE TS Peak Resp Particle em Levels in mg M3 Average for Three Months ' 9.3 2.5 2.5 0.5 0.5 The respirable fractions were collected in a 10mm nylon cyclone and deposited on the face of the quartz crystal in the TS1 quartz crystal mass monitor The particles were carefully removed from the quartz crystal by scraping into a 1.41 R.I. mounting fluid on a microscope slide and stabilized with a cover glass The particles were counted in 2 dimension projection and placed in one of 9 size categories from 1.2 to 19.0 microns Specific count data and a graph of the results are in attached appendix I & II Please note that a blank was run and the blank count was subtracted from each set of results All three samples had maximum counts in the 6.7 micron range The distribution curves for samples a and b are about the same The curve for the demicronized talc shows a sharp fall- off of particles in the sizes below 6.7 microns see graph Appendix II oN by attachment R.
