This meeting will be for the purpose of hearing the report of the Budget Committee and to take care of other unfinished business which was brought up during the meeting of the Board of Directors in St. Louis. This meeting of the Board of Directors will be^held in the Dithridge Room, Hotel Webster Hall, Tuesday, Noyember 10, at 7:30 P. M. The Board of Directors Meeting of the Amerioan Industrial Hygiene Association was called to order by H. H. Sohrenk at 4 >00 F.H., October 28, 1942, in Private Conference Room No. 3, Hotel Jefferson, St. Louis, Missouri. Those present were: H. H. Sohrenk, R. A. Kehoe, D. E. Cummings, D. D. Irish, W. A. Cook and E. C. Barnes. Proxies for J. J. Bloomfield, Philip Drinker and G. C. Harrold were in the hands of H. H. Sohrenk, Donald E. Cummings and W. A. Cook respectively. F. A. Patty was present to present report from the insignia committee and to discuss the proposed program for the next annual meeting. The Auditor's Report covering the 1942 annual meeting with the American Association of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons was reviewed by Iff. A. Cook. Motion by D. E. Cummings, seconded by D. D. Irish, was un animously approved .that the Budget Committee of the American Industrial Hygiene Association be empowered to negotiate with the Financial Committee of the American Association of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons and reach a final agreement with regard to distribution of income and deficit associated with the Pittsburgh and Cincinnati meetings on the basis of the following general policy: 1. That inoome or deficit should be divided between the two Associations in the ratio of: Amerioan Association of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons - 9, to American Industrial Hygiene Association - 1. 2. That the American Industrial Hygiene Association be protected against incurring any loss in excess of $250.00 for either meeting. The following motion was made by D. D. Irish, seconded by R. A. Kehoe, and unanimously approved: The American Industrial Hygiene Association proposed the following policy as a basis for future arrangements with the American Association of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons with respect to financial responsibility for joint conventions: 1. That a registration fee may be charged and shall not exceed $2.00 per person* The following suggestion is made by the Board of Directors of the American Industrial Hygiene Association: The Board is primarily in terested in preserving a sound financial structure within our organisa tion and not in profits from the holding of the annual meetings* The following motion was made by W. A. Cook* seconded by Donald E* Cummings* and unanimously approved: That R* A. Kehoe inform the Board of Directors of the American Association of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons that the Board of Directors of the American Industrial Hygiene Association is in favor of a three day meeting next spring at Eochester, " Hew York, to be held on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the program shared equally. It is further suggested that this meeting be coordinated with that of the Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists The following are the members of the Program Committee for the annual meeting next spring: H. H. Schrenk, Chairman; P. A* Patty, G. C. Harrold and W. A. Cook* Correspondence with the American Standards Association was reviewed by Donald E. Cummings who reported that final approval of our ' request for membership on oertain committees of the American Standards Association had not been officially approved but that it was anticipated this approval would be received in the near future* It was moved by W* A* Cook, seconded by Donald E. Cummings, and unanimously approved that the following applicants for membership in the Association be approved: F. McMahon, C.M* Peterson, J.T7. Young. Minutes Board of Directors Meeting - 3 it was recommended by the Board of Directors that Science Magazine be informed of notices of meetings, abstracts of papers, and other material which might be appropriately sent to the Science Magazine, P. A* Patty presented two emblem designs for consideration by the Board of Directors. One of these was a combination of the letters "a t h a " and the other was a symbolic design. The Board expressed its preference.for the symbolic type of design and suggested certain changes be made in the design submitted. The emblem is to be redesigned and submitted again to the Board of Directors for their approval* The Secretary has received a request to have the application blank for membership in the American Industrial Hygiene Association printed in sufficient quantity so that all the local section secretaries oan be supplied with a considerable number of them. The Secretary hasi obtained an estimate that the cost of printing 1,000 of these application for memberships would be $8.80. The Board of Directors requested the Secretary to make any necessary changes in the layout of this application for membership without changing the text, and to have 1,000 oopies printed. A letter from J. J. Bloomfield, U* S. Public Health Service, requesting use of the membership mailing list of the American Industrial Hygiene Association was read by the Secretary. Action on this request was deferred until the next meeting of the Board of Directors, Since a number of the members of the Board of Directors will be in Pittsburgh, Pa., on November 10, 11, 1942, for the annual meeting of the Industrial Hygiene Foundation, it is recommended that the Board of Directors hold a meeting at that time to hear the report of the Budget Committee and to consider other unfinished business.
