Dear Tad,
Many thanks for your heart warming news, it was tha sort of
~ r,
Easter sgg I could well do without. As you know I planned to spend
_ _
quite s lot of rise on asbestos replacement, but cowards the second
'
*
half of the year,.as we agreed during our last chat that
the
regulations would'nt bice until after 1973, so this puts
us in something
of a quandary as it leave us two months of maximum workload to achieve
an objective, which ia, we both know exceedingly difficult!
However, we hope to be able to start work on asbestos replacement
in tha third week in April, but at. the present momanc I cannot give
*
you a firs date for completion, as you will 1 hope appreciate,
'
MeanwhiLe, we are enlisting the help of Sandviken, so hope that they
s
can come up with something magical,
Although 1 think I know why you dld^nt like paper I think it will
be helpful if you could re*3tate why not since the replacement of asbestos
at Tamworth has relied on the combination of paper and slag wool to achieve
at best an inferior product (we have spent two months of
this yearto
far on work for Tamworth trying to improve the metal sufaca finishof
asbestos and silica free profax) X enclose the matrix for product
characteristics versus materials of which I should like your comments so
-
that ua at least have a basis for agreement, also please let us know
what work'yod are doing in this area as wa do not want to duplicate effort/
t
particularly in the light of both our staff situations! You can be assured! that we will coma back to you as soon as we have anything positive,
but at the moment most of the Group experience of replacing asbestos X'
have said, has relied on the use of paper as a stop gap alternative, (
t
The Fernax 107 has as yet not arrived, which is perhaps as well
because the Ametic will not be in use until after Easter,
;
X trust this latter finds you well, kindest regards,
Yours sincerely
