PROJECT WORK A. Purchase Orders Purchase orders totaling $174, 533 were issued during the month of October. Major expenditures were in the areas of welding supplies, mis cellaneous piping materials, valves for the chemical cleaning unit, electric materials, insulation and supplies required for the instrument installations. B. Civil Construction 1. Work continued on the installation of the dryer and dryer building structural steel. Cyclones are being installed and foundations are being prepared for the centrifuges and dry resin, screens. 2. The dryer control building pad was poured and work was initiated on the erection of the building. AP00041973 R. E. Jones PVC Expansion Report 11 November 1976 Page Three 3. Pump foundations were poured in the chemical cleaning area. 4. Two DMF storage tanks were relocated to their project location. C. Equipment and Piping 1. Work continued on the installation of the recovery system equipment and piping. All of the condensers were installed as well as the low temperature chiller for the vent system. 2. AU major piping work is in progress with one pipe crew working on top of the reactor, a second crew around the bottom of the reactors and the third crew working on utility and recovery piping. 3. Several problems were experienced with the resin transfer system from the hold bins to the overtrack silos which are being corrected. Even with the problems, we were able to transfer resin to six of the eight overtrack silos for storage. 4. Engineering continued work on the drawing for the piping revisions in the existing polymerization building. The drawings are currently being reviewed and prepared for issue. D. Instrumentation All of the pneumatic tubing from the rack junction boxes to the central control panel have been installed and the instrument fitters are currently extending the leads to the field instruments and field panels. Most of the control valves have now been installed and are ready for instrument leads. Computer program development work is as follows: 1. The CRT programs have been revised by Taylor and now appears to be functioning properly. 2. Considerable time was spent during the month revising the log programs. Programmers at Taylor are actively working to resolve problems experienced in the scanivalve programs, pulse counter and control block configurator programs. We are pushing to get these problems resolved so that the required systems tests can be carried out without inter ference from program development. E. Chemical Cleaning The shutdown required to upgrade the chemical cleaning unit has been scheduled to start 8 November 1976. The work will require that the unit be down until early January 1977.
