Sex 341: Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70321 Dear Bernie: I am writing to you, as well as Ter Haar, despite the fact that the letter, enclosed with this note is addressed to Ter Haar. The fact is that I do not feel very good about my action in connection with Stan Gross's efforts. I feel it necessary to exolain to you as well as Dr. Ter Haar why I felt it imperative to get him out of my hair. I hope I do not appear to be arbitrary and unduly severe. I feel sure that when you see my own report of this work you will understand why I felt it necessary to disclaim any responsibility for his efforts. And now I think I have done my duty to both of you, and I feel much better about it. Let me, now, send you, with sincerity, and also to Mrs. Sobel, our Christmas greetings. I hope this holiday and the year to come will be to your liking and that you will not credit me with being a hard-boiled So and So. As a matter of fact a great many of my friends both in this country and in England are expecting me to make good on this report soon. I cannot promise the "mbon" for I am very slow in the motion. I am nons-the-less clear in my mind, however on what has to be done, and if as I believe, I can do it I shall be very pleased. That does not mean however, that l" shall interfere in any way with your and Ter Haar's efforts to put out the report of Gross. If the presentation of the raw data by his method, does any good at all in setting up this "lead" issue in understandable form, I shall be content with it.
