Some of them show scaling or blank areas that occurred when they were washed. The rest v<e consider fairly representative, and we would like your opinion as to stipple count and also as to technical worth. Our stipple stain is made according to the formula given to Mrs. Lloyd by r. Hancock. Our Chemical Laboratory makes it up, and the pH is 7.3 as determined by standard indicator. Only recently have we had the experience of the biood film breaking or scaling off. This condition takes place when the distilled water is applied and has only happened in our recent lot of slides, previously we discovered that our distilled water had a pH of 5, and we had it brought up to a pH of 7.2, but this aid not correct the condition. Could you offer any suggestions as to this? There is a question in our minds regarding fine stipples.
