mcgraw construction CO., INC. ASBESTOS EXPOSURE CONTROL PURPOSE 1. To protect the health of McGraw employees by eliminating or controlling asbestos exposure. 2. To maintain compliance with the OSHA Asbestos Standards, CFR 1910.1001 and 1926.50. 3. State procedures and policies which should be used on the job when there is reasonable cause to think asbestos is present. TRAINING All supervisors be trained to: 1. Initiate the procedures to verify that suspect material is or is not asbestos. 2. Follow the appropriate procedures to protect employees against contact with asbestos. PROCEDURES; FRIABLE ASBESTOS 1. Friable asbestos is defined as any asbestos containing material or product which can be crushed by hand. 2. Friable asbestos shall not be handled or processed by any HcGraw employee. The handling of all friable asbestos shall be by a certified asbestos abatement contractor. 3. When friable asbestos is encountered in the planning stages of a job, the general superintendent will be notified and he will notify the owners of the company.for which McGraw is working. He will assist in the coordinating, planning, and scheduling of an appropriate asbestos abatement contractor. /j>. If material which might be asbestos encountered during a job: is unexpectedly A. That portion of the job which could result in a release of asbestos shall be immediately halted. B. The general superintendent shall be called to arrange for material testing to determine if the material does, in fact, contain asbestos. Until a determination has been made the material will be treated as asbestos. C. The general superintendent will initiate any appropriate intervention to prevent employee exposure including immediate encapsulation if necessary. D. If asbestos is present, or assumed to be present and the job cannot be stopped until the asbestos can be removed by a contractor, then appropriate high efficiency respirators shall be issued and fitted and air samples shall be collected. E. The job may.continue when the asbestos hazard has been removed or effectively controlled. THERE WILL BE NO: A.
