We are pleased that the Marinite C designation will continue and that Johns Manville recognizes the strength shortcomings of this board. Any improvement in flexual strength is highly desirable. I want to expand my comments relative to our casting opera tions "qualifying" for certain critical, high volume end products. In some cases, this process consumes a year in a stepwise progression. Whenever a material is changed that is in contact with molten metal about to be solidified, a requalification may be necessary. Obviously, any rapid change in approved materials may be trouble some. It is especially difficult now as we convert to non asbestos containing boards, which we wish to do in a rapid and orderly fashion. It would be very helpful if we could be notified by Johns Manville (rather than the present fabricator inputs) of significantT property and/or compositional changes that might be implemented. Also helpful.*rould be access to samples for testing, prototype fabrication, and prototype evaluation. Those persons who have had some opportunity to use Marinite C appear to be convinced that they can and prefer to make the con version. Most want some property improved so as to better serve their purposes.
