In our note of Hay 2, 1974, we neglected to point: out the work of Cliff Lee concerning paired sampling.^ A copy of his note was dis tributed to the PIC Engineers in all domestic PVC manufacturing plants on the issue date and should be available locally. Henry successfully adopted this technique when their Btindix instrument was installed. The intent of the May 2nd note was to reinforce the work at Henry and to try to answer the various objections raised against this method because it had not been generally adopted..

Bendix Data Analysis by Shifts: 1/1/78 to 3/30/78

Introduction;
A systematic sampling of hourly Bendix readings are routinely collected to calculate weekly Poly Building Floor averages. At your request, I have used three months of this data to compare shift averages of ambient vinyl chloride levels for each floor. See Table I for a summary of re sults.
Conclusions t
1) "C" shift has the highest ambient vinyl chloride averages for all three floors of the Poly Building.
2) MAM shift has the lowest ambient vinyl chloride averages on floors 1 and 2 of the Poly Building.
`3) "B" and "D" shifts have the lowest ambient vinyl chloride averages on third floor of the Poly Building.
4) The differences in shift averages listed above are statistically significant with 95% confidence.
Recommendations:
The biggest opportunity for reducing the floor averages is working with "C" shift, in particular the Recovery Operators.
