INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS DIVISION During December, 1975, 20 employees were monitored in the vinyl chloride plant. All were sampled over a six hour period and none exceeded 0.5 ppm vinyl chloride. The area monitors still indicate many excursions above 5 ppm for longer than 15 minutes. A continuing improvement program is under way. WCK/sm Attachment cc: Mr. R. In addition, numbers and locations of excursions for the regulated area were taken by scanning the area monitoring GC charts. II. CONCLUSIONS A. Personnel Monitoring 1. Twenty employees were monitored in December. Range_______ No, of Employees % 0.0 to 0,5 ppm VCt 0.51 to 1.0 ppm VCI 1.0- over ppm VCI 20 100 00 00 2. All employees tested in December were below the 0.5 ppm action level. See attached data. B. VCM Area Monitoring 1. The VCI area monitors consist of two Bendix gas chromatographs having ten sample points throughout the VCI Complex. 2. The chromatograph charts were scanned for excursions of VCI: o) Over 5 ppm extending over a 15-minute period. , b) Over 1 ppm extending over an 8-hour period. c) See data attached. 3.
