Process Description: The Interlake Mecalux, lnc. (Interlake) facility manufactures steel-frame storage systems. Raw materials include unpainted steel coils and are slit, stamped, punched, folded, drilled and welded to specification, before the component pieces are sent to the low-intensity electrostatic paint booth. Steel pieces are degreased with a phosphate solution before painting. Paints used contain VOCs and emissions from painting and degreasing are routed to a twin-bed regenerative them1al oxidizer (RTO). Welding emissions are collected and routed through cartridge filters before being vented to atmosphere. Welding cartridge filters are changed monthly. The RTO has a low temperature alarm. RTO maintenance and troubleshooting are provided by Catalytic Products, Inc. The RTO is turned off nightly and on weekends and is interlocked with painting and degreasing operations such that they cannot be run without the RTO in operation. TOUR INFORMATION EPA toured the facility: Yes Data Collected and Observations: Photos were taken during the facility tour. EPA toured the facility and observed all processes. The facility appeared to be in nonnal operations. The RTO temps were 1584 Fin bed A, which appear to be the active bed during the observation. and 1574 Fin bed B.
