CO-5 Revised 4/76 M SALES REPRESENTATIVE'S REPORT _v FRICTION PRODUCTS GROUP TYPE OF CALL Date Typed: 1/4/78-1/4./78 RESPONSE REQUESTED date 1/3/78 REPRESENTATIVE D. P. CONLON CITY REPORT No. 99 STATE/ZIP PHONE OFFICIALS INTERVIEWED Paul B. Hellens - Senior Product Development Engineer COMMENTS A discussion concerning the rotor wear and lining wear problems with 7018C was held. The net result was that Chrysler was going to continue with their program of vehicle testing in Florida, beginning January 4, 1978. They would very much like to have the solution to the lining and rotor wear problems identified but recognize that this may not happen. If the solution does not come forth within a nominal (few days) length of time, Chrysler intends to accelerate their search for a lining to replace 7018C. If a solution can be found Chrysler Engineering would be under less pressure to replace 7018C, especially if some improvement in the noise area can be obtained. At this point, Chrysler is open friction material manufacturer. metallic compounds. to all suggestions from Abex or any other They are willing to test both organic and Chrysler would very much like to continue to work with Abex on this program but feels as though a new lining is needed unless the recently identified wear problems with 7018C can be corrected. In my opinion, the full-blown lining development program which was envisioned, has now been advanced. This program was probably six months away if noise was the only problem. With the wear problem now so severe, this six month gestation period has been eliminated. Denis P.
